Police hope to muffle excessive noise

Police are not staying quiet about their latest ploy to the public. They are unveiling new technology to help track excessive noise violators.

The month long trial period is set to begin August 1st.

The program will be first set up in areas with high noise complaints like 17th Ave SW.

Inspector Ken Thrower said this does not apply to most people.

“Just keep it under control, don’t rev it up, don’t stunt then this is not going apply to you” he said. “This isn’t something that anybody needs to worry ‘boy I gotta go get my vehicle checked” that’s why we don’t have a standardized reading. For example if we were on Deerfoot right now, I would be yelling and you couldn’t hear me”.

Thrower said not only will these vehicles be stopped and possibly given a $115 ticket, police will then search the vehicle for any illegal equipment.
