All is reported to be quiet in Gaza, where a three day Egyptian-brokered truce took effect at 11 p.m. Monday night Calgary time.
Israel says it has succeeded in destroying tunnels used by Hamas militants to sneak from Gaza into Israel to stage attacks.
Since the fighting started four weeks ago, several truces have taken effect, only to collapse with each side blaming the other.
Israel has withdrawn its soldiers and tanks from the area, with residents of Gaza back on the streets visiting shops which are again opening their doors.
The truce sets the stage for talks in Cairo aimed at reaching a longer ceasefire.
