It was an early morning scare for residents in Highland Park after they were alerted to a small fire in their attic.

It happened in the 4300 block of Centre A street northeast.

Battalion Chief Stu Laird tells 660News by the time they arrived there was light smoke at the back of the building and the fire had self-ventilated through the roof.

“Fire crews initiated an aggressive interior attack and used high volume fans to pressurize the home and contain it to the home of origin,” said Laird.

Laird said everyone inside managed to make it out okay and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
