Increased support for Calgary kids to tackle tough issues

Calgary kids will see increased support to tackle tough issues and make good choices thanks to new funding announced for the Calgary Police Youth and Interpretive Centre.

The centre is an interactive facility that supports youths by strengthening their knowledge of the tough issues, so they can make informed choices going into junior high school with things like gangs, bullying, drugs and internet safety.

“YouthLink Calgary Police Interpretive Centre will give kids the opportunity to change their lives,” Minister of Justice and Solicitor General Jonathan Denis said.

“It will focus on youth education, crime prevention, and intervention so that young people are engaged and empowered to make good decisions and keep away from crime and victimization down the road.”

This is one of 15 projects in the province to receive funding as part of the Civil Forfeiture Fund (CFF). CFF grants support community initiatives aimed at children, youth, and families at risk of becoming involved in criminal activity, including gang involvement and those at-risk of being a victim of crime.
