Sunshine Village sees first snowfall

It may be cool in Calgary today, but up in Sunshine Village they’re using a completely different four letter word.

That’s right; snow is falling up there in the mountainous Banff-area resort.

Even though it is still technically summer, spokesperson Lindsay Gallagher tells 660News every little bit helps the upcoming ski season.

“We definitely like to see this and we want to see lots more in the coming months,” said Gallagher.

She said the snow provides a bit of optimism to crews who have been working year round on the trails.

“We set up our snow fences even in the summer time so we can take advantage of all this fresh early season snow.”

Right now the official start to ski season is slated for November 14th, but if they get anymore white stuff Gallagher said the date could be pushed up by as much as a week.
