CALGARY – Alberta Premier Jim Prentice says by-elections to fill four vacant seats in the legislature will be held Oct. 27.
Prentice says he will run in the constituency of Calgary-Foothills.
The seat opened when Independent Len Webber stepped down this morning to run federally.
Other Tory by-election candidates include police Sgt. Mike Ellis in Calgary-West, one-time school board chairman Gordon Dirks in Calgary-Elbow and former Edmonton mayor Stephen Mandel in Edmonton-Whitemud.
Dirks and Mandel were brought into cabinet by Prentice earlier this month as education and health ministers, respectively.
Calgary-West became vacant when former energy minister Ken Hughes resigned today to go back to the private sector.
