The founder of a Calgary animal rescue is worried they’ll have to close their doors soon.
Dawn Hanson with the Feline Rescue Foundation of Alberta, known as ‘Furfa’ for short, says they’re on the verge of being homeless themselves with no place to go at the end of the month.
She tells 660News it would be a shame if they have to close because there is still a need out there.
“We sort of focus on the cats that often get overlooked, the ferals, the severely abused and the cats coming off of the street,” says Hanson.
On top of that, she says, they’re feeling the impacts of the tight rental market in another way with people having to give up their pets for a place to live.
“In many of these situations, there’s nowhere to go. That’s what makes it difficult to turn people away is that there is nowhere to turn them away to,” says Hanson.
She says anyone who’d like to help can go to their website by clicking here.
