The end of a very short-lived era officially begins Thursday in Canada.
Target stores across the country have mounted “liquidation sale” signs as the retail giant pulls out of the country it expanded to just two years ago.
However, many deal-hunters walked out of the story disappointed Thursday morning, saying the “bargains” didn’t feel like bargains at all.
Most left the store with little, or no, merchandise purchased.
Richard told 660News the sales weren’t much below the usual sticker price.
“I came here yesterday, saw there was a sale, and came back just in case it was going to be anything extra, but it wasn’t. So, I just should have bought it yesterday,” explained Richard.
Another customer, Gary, was hoping to snag a great deal in the electronics department, but left empty-handed when he saw the sale price was a mere 10 per cent off. He predicts prices will drop further in the days and weeks to come.
Target plans to have all its Canadian shops closed for good by by mid-May.
