Driver believed to be targeting bunnies is busted for much more

A man apparently targeting bunnies with his car ran into a lot more trouble than he bargained for overnight.

Several calls to Calgary police reported a driver in a field near Panatella Hill N.W. around 1:40 a.m.

But Sergeant Joe Hebert tells 660News, the man was arrested for much more than trying to run over rabbitts.

“Members came into contact with the driver of the vehicle and quickly discovered he was in possession of a firearm, some narcotics and some form of a home-made silencer for the weapon itself,” says Hebert.

Hebert says they’re also looking at the driver as a possible suspect in a couple of firearm thefts in the city.

Charges are pending.

It doesn’t appear the suspect managed to hit any rabbits.
