How Pink Shirt Day has evolved

This article is more than 5 years old.
It was started seven years ago by some high school students in Nova Scotia who wanted to stand up for a classmate who was being bullied; it’s now a global phenomenon.
Travis Price and his friend began the anti-bullying movement, asking people in their high school to wear pink after they noticed a boy getting bullied for wearing a pink shirt.
Since then, he’s been busy travelling the country speaking to schools.
Price says the response to Pink Shirt Day has been overwhelming.
“You know, it’s awareness, it’s key, it’s getting celebrities on board,” Price said. “It’s getting people to just step up and say, you know what, I was bullied too.”
Pink Shirt Day is now a fixture in 14 different countries.
