Albertans remember Leonard Nimoy

Leonard Nimoy was in Alberta in 2010 for a brief but memorable trip.

He was in Vulcan for a parade that celebrated the official Star Trek capital of the world.

Fans wearing Vulcan ears and Star Trek costumes lined the streets to get a glimpse of the star, who noted that of all his travel around the world for Star Trek appearances, that one was one of the most touching.

He was in Calgary that same weekend to appear at the Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo.

Lindsay Thomas, Vice President of Communications and Guest Acquisition with the Expo, briefly met the sci-fi legend and said he will be missed.

“He was a man of beautiful words and some amazing wisdom that he had accumulated throughout his life and he had a grandfatherly presence and a very calming presence, and I remember that being a very striking feeling when I met him.”

Thomas adds that Nimoy was a class act and a fantastic person to be around.
