The Calgary Fire Department battled a blaze in the southwest Saturday Afternoon.
Crews responded to the 0-100 block of 17th Ave near Centre Street to a construction site just before the noon hour.
Carol Henke with CFD says it’s still too early to determine a cause.
“There were some construction workers on site when the fire started, and they will be interviewed as that is part of the process for the fire investigator when they arrive on scene, to determine the origin and cause, putting the whole story together. So we don’t want to make any assumptions at this point.”
There were no injuries as a result of this fire at this point.
Henke adds the building will need to be deconstructed slowly due to the damage caused by the fire, and crews can’t fight it from the inside due to the safety risk.
