A man from Ponoka is dead, and another Albertan is missing following an avalanche in eastern British Columbia.
RCMP said four snowmobilers were near McBride when the snow slide hit, Saturday.
Two people managed to escape, but two got caught up in the avalanche, including Tom Hamilton, who has been identified as one of the victims on the Kinsmen Club of Ponoka’s Facebook page.
His body was recovered at the scene.
Helicopters continue to search for the missing snowmobiler, though ground crews are currently not being allowed access to the area because of dangerous conditions.
