For the second time this week, there’s been a serious accident involving a skier or snowboarder at Sunshine Village.
Parks Canada reports their safety specialists responded to an out of bounds area at Goat’s Eye Mountain on the ski resort Friday afternoon, after the skier fell and triggered an avalanche.
They say he walked onto a corniced ridge, causing the cornice to fail which triggered the avalanche and swept him more than 500 metres down the mountain.
He was located on top of the avalanche debris and was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Earlier this week, a young snowboarder from Canmore died at the resort after he hit a tree.
