The 4th annual Community Emergency Response Team summit

The Community Emergency Response Team, also known as CERT, will hold its 4th annual day of classes teaching communities to prepare for disasters on Saturday.

The event’s Marg Pollon says they started the program at Rocky Mountain House.

“To make it easy for people to be able to come to the summits, we’ll keep moving them around our last funding from the Calgary Foundation was to broaden our scope and go outside of Calgary and go out to the rural areas and introduce it to them as well,” she said.

“We’ve been doing this for the past year due to the Calgary Foundation grant that allowed us to facilitate summits and they just gave us more funding to continue on, so we’re just doing our fourth one this Saturday and we have the next one scheduled for June 12 and 13th,” she adds.

You can also register online for classes.

The course runs all day at Ambrose University and will focus on handling medical emergencies, food safety and having a disaster kit ready.
