Leading up to the May 5 election, City News and 660News will be running a series focusing on some Calgary candidates with interesting back stories.

David Khan is running for the Liberal party in the riding of Calgary-Buffalo, where he hopes to take the place of outgoing MLA Kent Hehr, who’s heading into federal politics.

Khan tells City News, he can only hope to fill Hehr’s big shoes.

“Kent Hehr has got the utmost respect of so many voters down here. Every door I go to, everyone knows him and respects him, and thinks he’s a great MLA, a hard-working MLA for our community,” he said.

If elected, Khan promises to continue to fight for issues close to Hehr’s heart: advocating for Calgary’s city charter and aboriginal rights.
