Butterflies arrive at the Calgary Zoo

If you have any doubts winter is long gone, just look to the Calgary Zoo.

Spokesperson Trish Exton-Parder says butterflies have arrived earlier than expected at the Garden Gallery at the ENMAX Conservatory.

“Today we actually had a shipment arrive, that we will be unloading and pinning to the exhibit, so this is where we taking the Chrysalis and put them in our viewing window area, so people can actually see some of the butterflies emerging in front of their eyes,” she said.

The more than 200 Chrysalises represent about 20 butterfly species.

Over the summer months, Exton-Parder says there will as many as 500 butterflies fluttering their wings at the Zoo at any given time.
