Calgary Hitmen fall in second Eastern Conference Final game

Tyler Coulter tipped home a Ryan Pilon point shot 51 seconds into overtime giving the Brandon Wheat Kings a 3-2 win over the Calgary Hitmen on Saturday evening at Westman Place.

The victory lifts the Wheat Kings to a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven WHL Eastern Conference Championship series.

The Hitmen forced sudden death erasing a 2-0 first period deficit on goals from Adam Tambellini and Micheal Zipp. Zipp’s marker, his first career playoff goal, was the equalizer finding the back of the net with just over 13 minutes remaining in the third period.

Calgary goalie Brendan Burke was named the second star making 43 saves in the loss as Brandon outshot Calgary 46-26.

Jayce Hawryluk and Peter Quenneville also scored for Brandon.
