Prentice dodges candidate controversy to focus on PC platform

Progressive Conservative leader Jim Prentice touted his party’s platform as the only way to right the economy and create more jobs and investment.

At a stop at a Calgary warehouse Wednesday, the premier was also pressed about less favourable headlines his party members have been faced with this week.

Prentice bobbed and weaved around a number of questions surrounding the ousting of former Chestermere candidate Jamie Lall , and the resignation of Justice Ministre Jonathan Denis.

He turned every answer back to topics he said are important — the economy and jobs.

“I’m sure if you asked all of the people behind me (sic), whether they’re concerned about the economy and jobs, or whether they’re concerned about Chestermere-Rocky View and somebody called Jamie Lall and text messages that went back and forth, I’m pretty sure what they’ll tell you,” Prentice said. “They’re concerned about jobs and they’re concerned about the future of the province.”

With just six days until Albertans hit the polls, Prentice suggested all of those in social and traditional media move on to focus on what really matters to people in the province.
