Hydraulic fracking enter Texas municipalities

There is already a lot of fracking within the state of Texas, but now the practice is permitted inside Texas cities.

The US State has banned cities from imposing prohibitions on hydraulic fracturing.

The ruling is viewed as a major victory for industry groups and conservatives who have been critical of local governments over previous regulations.

The decision comes after university town, Denton, was opposed to the oil-drilling as a result of safety concerns from gas wells near urban areas, and the prevalence of recurring small earthquakes.

Energy lobbyists have argued local regulations should not trump property rights.
