A man who has been pushing the province to build a dam on McLean Creek instead of along the Elbow River near Springbank is pleased with the flood mitigation plans of the new NDP government.
The New Democrats favour the McLean Creek option.
Dick Koetsier tells 660News, he’s relieved at the opportunity to work with a government that appears willing to listen.
“I was banging my head against the door of the previous government, to the point that I was almost giving up,” he said.
Koetsier says he’s already been in contact with newly elected Banff-Canmore MLA Cam Westhead.
He adds, he’s been chasing this dream for long enough.
He won’t get excited until there’s a shovel in the ground, but this is the most optimistic he’s been about the McLean Creek Dam.
