Mounties will be on the road, enforcing laws and reminding Victoria Day long weekend travelers to take their time getting to holiday destinations.
RCMP and Alberta Sheriffs will once again be out in full force in an effort to make sure motorists are safe.
Airdrie Constable Jason Curtis told City News there is often an increase in impaired drivers during times of extended weekends.
“Over the long weekend, we do have a greater volume of people on the road, more people travelling, so we do see an increase in occurrences of impaired and distracted driving and also serious motor vehicle collisions causing injuries and death,” Curtis said.
He also mentioned RCMP will be cracking down specifically on impaired, distracted, and aggressive driving as well as making sure everyone is wearing their seat-belts.
