Hellenic Police have arrested three Hells Angels members on the Greek island of Corfu after a violent assault on June 7th.
According to a news release, a 41-year-old man was left with “grievous” or “near fatal” head injuries and was taken to an Athens hospital.
The trio has yet to be named, but are being described as 29, 34 and 35 years old and from the Edmonton and Red Deer areas.
The Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team’s Mike Tucker says they’re currently working with investigators in Europe, providing them with information about the three who are known to police.
“I think any time when you’re dealing with members of the Hells Angels, they’re going to want some more information,” he said.
“Two are members of the Westridge Club which is based in Edmonton and one is a member of the Nomads which is affiliated with Red Deer,” Tucker said.
According to ALERT, their information suggests the Hells Angels was holding their “world meeting” in Greece at the time, which explains their presence there.
The announcement comes as the agency continues to monitor biker gangs in the province and any “active threats” to community safety.
Tucker says Alberta is certainly not immune, with biker presences felt across the province.
“We’re routinely gathering intelligence and executing enforcement action not just against outlaw motorcycle gangs but any organized crime groups,” he said.
