Ship and Anchor celebrates 25 years in Calgary

Cheers to the next 25 years.

The 17 Avenue bar, The Ship and Anchor, is celebrating a quarter century in Calgary Wednesday.

Local Artist Tim Bernard has created a custom mural to honour the pub’s big milestone, and represent the Ship’s unique energy.

Promotions and Marketing Manager Nicola Trolez tells City News, they especially wanted to honour their loyal customers.

“The regulars are the core of the pub. We have a huge group of them. Some of them have been coming for 25 years, and some of them are new this year. What’s so great is that they all inhabit the same space so well and rub shoulders together and get along, and create that one of a kind atmosphere,” she said.

Trolez says they have a fantastic show planned for Wednesday night, with some special secret guests, as well as a one-time reunion of rockers, The Neckers.

There will also be free cupcakes all day, and a special cocktail bar on the patio.
