What appeared to be a bloody mess was the scene outside Holt Renfrew in Calgary over the lunch hour as PETA protesters took to the corner of 8th Avenue and 4th Street Southwest.
The demonstration focused on how the group believes animals are being treated to create Hermes products.
According to their investigation, the protestors claim crocodiles are being stabbed and sticks are being shoved in their heads to scramble their brains, while they are still alive.
The protest included a half-naked, body-painted woman lying on the sidewalk covered in red paint.
Spokesperson Emily Lavender spoke to 660 NEWS.
“People pay thousands of dollars for these luxury items but it is the reptiles on these cruel factory farms that are paying the real price with their lives,” Lavender said.
The ‘bloody’ display drew the attention of many passers-by, some eating lunch across the street.
“It’s an eye opener, that protest, that’s for sure. It caught my eye,” one man told 660 NEWS.
The PETA protesters centered on Calgary’s Holt Renfrew location because of its Hermes boutique.
