Beakerhead set to amaze Calgarians

Keep your eyes peeled for some bizarre sights around Calgary over the next five days.

Beakerhead begins Wednesday.

Director of programming Jasmine Palardy told 660 NEWS what it’s all about/

“We avoid the the term festival, because really, if you imagine it, it’s almost like the city takes on this theme of two of our core strengths: art and engineering,” Palardy explained, “So, you mash those two things together in city wide and public and private spaces all through the city.”

Watch out for things like a giant inflatable on the top of St. Patrick’s Island and a 6,400 square foot sandbox at Fort Calgary where you can play a 30 foot tall arcade game based on ‘the claw’ from Disney’s Toy Story.

“inginuity and creativity are in the water of Calgary and so that manifests in a variety of ways. So whethere that’s concerts and events, pop-up workshops and bizarre and interesting contraptions and inflatables that power over you by 35 feet tall,” Palardy added.
