The Mount Royal Faculty Association is hoping there won’t be more cuts to post-secondary education in Tuesday’s budget.
President Marc Schroeder tells 660 NEWS, they’ve been dealing with a continual erosion of operating grants.
“If that’s allowed to constrict, or it doesn’t at least grow at the rate of inflation, really, over time, institutions become you know, starved of that oxygen they need,” he said. “And because PSE institutions are required to by law to submit balanced budgets, you know, we can’t run deficits.”
If they don’t hear good news, he says it will very soon become more noticeable to students, especially as class sizes grow even larger due to people looking to changing their career paths.
