Covenant seniors care workers considering strike

Seniors care workers are considering the next step against their employer Covenant and it could include strike action.
According to a news release from the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees – Covenant ended mediated bargaining on Monday with a final offer.
Negotiator Kevin Davediuk told 660 NEWS that compensation at the Villa Marie site in Red Deer and Holy Cross Manor in Calgary are 25 per cent below the provincial average.
“We asked the employer for their best offer, they actually gave us a very aggressive proposal they called a final offer and there was hardly any movement in it,” says Davediuk.
He says right now they’ve entered a self-described “cooling off” period to decide on what’s next.
