Dreams Take Flight touches down in California

The adventure is underway for 150 kids on the trip of a lifetime.

Wednesday morning marked the 23rd Annual Dreams Take Flight, a day in Disneyland for children with physical, social and mental challenges.

If volunteers were sleep deprived, it was hard to tell at Calgary International Airport. One of them told 660 NEWS, she’s never seen so many people there so early — it’s clear passengers are excited for the trip.

It was a fun filled flight starting with the flight attendants dressing up as Disney characters.

This year’s special guest is Child Advocate and Former Calgary Flame, Sheldon Kennedy.

“You know, just picking on the kid’s energy — I take it for granted sometimes, thinking a lot of kids or most kids get to Disneyland, and the reality is this is a first for the majority of the kids here, and they’re pumped,” Kennedy said.

Captain William King said many Air Canada crew look forward to Dreams Take Flight.

“This is the second time I’ve taken part in Dreams Take Flight and it’s a fabulous day… for everyone involved,” King told 660 NEWS.

Mookie and Billie Jo from our sister station KiSS 95-9 will be joining 660’s Ian Campbell with more coverage from the happiest place on earth.
