Consumer confidence up, but still not roses

Here’s something you might not have expected: consumer confidence is up across Canada and even in Alberta.
The November figures from the Conference Board of Canada index of consumer confidence show it rose to 103.1 from 95.3 in October.
Even so, senior economist with the Board Julie Ades told 660 NEWS it’s not all good news.
“Alberta’s index rose for the first time in six months in November,” she explained. “But, this was not enough to offset the decline recorded since the end of 2014 due to the collapse of oil prices. Alberta’s index remains close to 50 points below its 2014 average.”
The survey asked people how they perceive their current finances, future finances, and future job prospects, and whether they think it is a good time to make a major purchase.
