Fire significantly damages NW duplex

Calgary fire crews raced to the northwest early Sunday night after thick grey smoke was seen venting from the front door of a duplex.
The blaze was located in the basement and quickly extinguished in the 2800 block of 14 Street, N.W. shortly after 6:00 p.m.
The unit was searched for possible victims, but thankfully no one was home at the time.
The fire has resulted in major damage in the unit of origin, however, the neighbouring side wasn’t affected.
Firefighters later found out that a neighbour had returned home, noticed the billowing smoke, and called 911.
No injuries were reported.
