Friends identify victim in Nexen site explosion

Family and friends are grieving after the sudden loss of Drew Foster, the man who died during an explosion at the Nexen Long Lake site.
Two maintenance workers were refitting the valves on a compressor in the hydrocracker unit of the site on Friday afternoon, when the blast happened.
Today, Occupational Health and Safety confirmed with 660 NEWS, the age of deceased worker, who was 52-years-old. A spokesperson also said the other worker who was injured in the explosion was 30-years-old.
In the wake of the incident, a GoFundMe page has been created to support the Foster family. It describes Drew as a caring and amazing father and husband, who was always smiling and laughing.
On Saturday, the company’s CEO called the tragedy “a dark day in Nexen history.”
A stop-work order is in place at the site, which is 75 kilometres south of Fort McMurray.
