Investigators are still trying to determine what sparked a blaze at an abandoned home in the Kensington area Wednesday afternoon.
The call to 911 came in just before 1 p.m. as firefighters headed to the home in the 300 block of 9 St. N.W.
Fire Information Officer Carol Henke said it appears someone had been inside.
“Now this is a house that has been boarded up, so technically there was not supposed to be anybody inside,” she said. “However, it seems that one of the boards had been taking off the window.”
There were no injuries or damage to any of the adjacent properties.
