Police charge suspect in punching death

Calgary police have charged a man in a punching death outside a southeast liquor store.

Police say Peter Nassichuk was exiting the building on McIvor Boulevard SE on March 24, when he got into an altercation with two other men.

One of those men threw a punch, causing the 37-year-old to lose consciousness and strike his head on the pavement.

He died in hospital April 11, launching a homicide investigation.

Rico Alan Properzi, 31, is charged with one count of manslaughter.

Police are expected to release more details Friday.
