Wildfires contributing to gas shortage

Production problems resulting from the Fort McMurray wildfires are starting to be reflected at the gas pump.
Some stations are running out of supply, and others are likely jacking prices.
Suncor was one of the major players knocked offline during the height of the wildfires, and Suncor happens to own Petro Canada.
GasBuddy.com Analyst Dan McTeague says the combination of the crude shortage making it to Suncor’s refinery in Edmonton with a fuel shortage in the mid-western U.S. is leading to a petro-cocktail that’s bad news for drivers.
“In Calgary, prices will likely jump from 97.9 cents into the $1.08 range. I expect that to start at some point (Thursday), at the latest (Friday),” he said.
He says you’ll start to see Petro-Canada stations run out of fuel shortly and the rush to get cheaper gas will also tax reserves at other brands as well.
McTeague says it’s possible many stations will only get about 25 per cent of its regular supply for the next little while as Suncor gets things back on track.
