WinSport introduces new concussion program, robotic arm

A new sports concussion program is now part of the WinSport Medicine Clinic.

Dr. Brian Benson tells 660 News this will help athletes whenever they need it.

“Comprehensive baseline assessments to athletes in their pre-season period when they’re healthy, and then if they do sustain a concussion during the season, they will have timely, immediate access back into the clinic, repeating some of the baseline measures so we can get a precise idea of where the impairment lies.”

The announcement on Thursday also coincided with the introduction of their new Kin Arm.

“It’s, in essence, a blood test for brain function. So it’s objective, you can’t fool the robot, and it’s showing to be a clinically useful tool as it’s detecting impairment that we can’t detect clinically with our traditional physical examination skills,” adds Dr. Benson.

The Kin Arm went through five years of clinical studies before being ready for patients.
