Calgary Flames announce full 2016-17 regular schedule

The Calgary Flames upcoming campaign opens with a home-and-home Battle of Alberta with the Edmonton Oilers starting on Wednesday, October 12 at Rogers Place before they return to Calgary for the Flames home opener at the Saddledome on Friday, October 14.

Calgary’s longest home stands this season are four games and occur three times in just over a month: February 28 – March 9, March 13 – 19, and March 27 – April 2.

The Flames longest road trip is six games. It starts in Detroit at Joe Louis Arena on November 20, with stops in Buffalo, Columbus, Boston, and Philadelphia, and concludes in Brooklyn on November 28.

On New Year’s Eve, Calgary will host the Arizona Coyotes.

All Flames home and away games will be carried live on the radio on Sportsnet 960 The FAN, our sister station. The complete television schedule will be released later this summer.

The National Hockey League schedule features a number of outdoor games, including the first-ever NHL Centennial Classic, an outdoor game at BMO Field in Toronto on New Year’s Day. On January 2, the Blues will face the Blackhawks in the 2017 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic at Busch Stadium in St. Louis.

There’s also the Tim Hortons NHL Heritage Classic between the Jets and Oilers on Sunday, October 23, at Investors Group Field in Winnipeg and the 2017 Coors Light NHL Stadium Series between the Penguins and Flyers on Saturday, February 25, at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh.
