A popular swimming and boating destination in Calgary will start charging fees this summer season as Sikome Lake opens this weekend.
Don Carruthers Den Hoed with Alberta Parks tells City News, the money will go towards improving the infrastructure around the body of water located in Fish Creek Park.
“Upgrade facilities like the washrooms, and we’ve already upgraded one of them, and to also make sure that we can build a facility that’s more inclusive, that is more accessible for people who need different experiences than maybe in the past, and to just make sure that really, it’s an exceptional facility into the future,” he said.
He says it’s long overdue as no other upgrades have been completed since the 1970s.
A single day family pass will be $10 with a season’s pass priced at $100.
