Large house fire in the city’s S.E.

Calgary Fire crews kept busy Saturday evening with a house fire in the S.E.

Emergency Officials responded to the 100 block of Prestwick Terrace around 5:30 p.m.

Battalion Chief Al Magwood says before arriving a second alarm was called due to large plumes of smoke in the area.

“Two story house fully involved that it self-vented through the roof, and it also started their non-detached garage on fire, there was no one at home at the time and we set up a large volume hose in-between that house and the exposures so the fire was actually contained to the house of origin.” Magwood said.

It appears the home is severely damaged and may be a total loss, crews stayed overnight to watch out for hotspots.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
