Canada Post negotiations continue

There’s progress, but still no deal between Canada Post and the union representing its workers.
One of the major demands the Canadian Union of Postal Workers has been fighting for is pay-per-hour for rural and suburban mail carriers, rather than getting paid by the package.
National president Mike Palecek says it’s the same model used for city mail carriers.
“They’re finally, at least, open to giving guaranteed hours to our suburban mail carriers,” he said. “They still refuse to talk about pay equity for them or giving an hourly wage even, but there is some progress.”
Canada Post also wants to change pensions for new hires, giving them fewer benefits than current employees of the Crown Corporation.
