Enmax issues warning after fraudsters pose as employees

Beware of two individuals pretending to be Enmax employees looking to gain access to your home.

That warning from the local power provider after complaints of a duo attempting to gain entry to properties in the Dover area.

They’re reportedly telling homeowners that they’re doing efficiency checks and they need to look over the furnace.

Spokesperson Doris Kaufmann-Woodcock said that with the exception of meter readers, Enmax is not sending anyone door to door.

“Even then, a homeowner does not need to allow an authorized Enmax person, even, in the door,” Kaufmann-Woodcock explained. “They can submit a monthly read of their meter by either sending us a photograph, or an email with their usage details.”

She encouraged anyone with information on this scam to call police.
