Expo Latino underway with free admission Friday night

Get ready to salsa!

Calgary’s 20th annual Expo Latino takes over Prince’s Island Park this weekend.

Between 30,000 and 50,000 people are expected to file through during the course of the event.

There will be music, dance and food representing dozens of Latin-speaking countries around the world.

There is a special offer for those looking to go on Friday.

“The economy is not that great in Calgary, so what we’re doing on Friday night is free admission with a donation to the food bank,” said Expo director Carmen Galvez. “We want everyone to experience it and give a little bit back into the community. Our weekend passes are only $30. Children under 12 get in free, so it’s very affordable.”

Galvez also expressed that this event has a big focus on the entire family.

“Latin culture is all about family. We bring the kids and the grandparents to all of the events and parties, so we want the people of Calgary to experience that.”
