Plans to develop northeast golf course sent back to administration

A proposal to build homes on the now closed Harvest Hills golf course won’t be debated during this week’s meeting of the Calgary Planning Commission as originally planned.
The matter has been sent back to administration for further study.
David Hartwick, who is the first Vice President and Advocacy director with the Northern Hills Community Association, tells CITY News the move will not stop their fight against the proposal.
“This isn’t the only community, six thousand letters, I don’t know if the city has ever had six thousand letters on an issue before, and it wasn’t just people from this community, people are concerned that the city is destroying park space and green space in favour of development,” said Hartwick.
“Before population density in the area is increased, the city needs to build schools and recreation centres for the area first,” added Hartwick.
Cedarglen Homes is seeking approval to build more than 700 units on the almost 65 acres of the former Harvest Hills Golf Course.
The proposal does include two tennis courts for public use.
