Bubble mania clogs Calgary park with foam, forces cleanup

It’s a strange sight, at a park on 8th Street S.W.

It looks like somebody left the bubble bath on in Century Gardens, which is covered foamy bubbles.

David told 660 NEWS that he stopped to investigate.

“Yeah it’s weird, in the morning I thought it was snow, but it turned out to be foaming. I didn’t know what was happening, it’s a little bit weird.”

Paul Stanley is staying at the Sandman across the street, and says it looks like someone had a lot of fun.

“Someone had nothing better to do in the middle of the night, and so they maybe went to Mac’s, and got well I talked to these guys who work for the city, and they found four boxes of laundry detergent.”

Stanley adds the foam was as tall as the trees and 20 feet in diameter, and was floating down the street.

The City of Calgary is working to clean up the mess, and they are not pleased about the incident.

Todd Reichardt says this is unacceptable.

“We certainly don’t condone this type of behaviour, it is effectively an act of vandalism. While on the surface it looks kind of funny and we know lots of people have big smiles on their face, we have four staff there for over two and a half hours, when they could’ve been dispatched to their regular work.”

Reichardt adds there are security cameras inside the park so they will be going over footage to hopefully identify the suspects or suspects.

He says this incident is kind of like throwing a pie in the face of a person in the media or a politician it’s very disrespectful and they don’t want it to happen again.
