High risk offender re-arrested one week after release

Calgary police confirm the arrest of a high risk offender who was released into Calgary.

James Alexander Parent was arrested Thursday after a warrant was issued by Corrections Canada to suspend his release.

CPS had issued a warning to the public about Parent last week, following his release from Bowden Institution after serving a sentence for sexual assault causing bodily harm, disguise with intent and unlawful confinement, among other charges.

There’s no word yet on why he was re-arrested.

Calgary police are referring all questions to correctional services.
