The second anniversary of Snowtember

With a chance of flurries in the forecast, it might make Calgarians a little uneasy considering this weekend marks the second anniversary of a destructive weather event that’s been widely referred to as Snowtember.
It’s been two years since a heavy snowstorm damaged a million trees in Calgary.
30 centimetres of wet snow destroyed much of the city’s canopy.
Thanks to the city’s Re-Tree YYC program, tens of thousands of those trees have been attended to since then, offering help to homeowners who want to restore the canopy in their neighbourhoods.
The city says efforts for 2016 include planting trees in 25 communities and another 25 next year.
