Police make arrest in ambulance theft

One person is in police custody Monday after taking an ambulance for a joy ride.

Detective Hayley Marquis says it happened around 3 a.m.

“The ambulance was out front of the Drop-in Centre when it was taken, so HAWC and K9 were used and we were able to locate the ambulance and a person of interest,” she said.

Marquis says the ambulance got as far as 14 Avenue and 17a Street SE before it was stopped.

Police are looking into whether keys were left in the ambulance before it was taken.
