Police investigate possible assault in SW

Police are investigating the circumstances around a possible assault in the southwest, which has a man in hospital in critical condition.
Detective Jody Cross says paramedics were called to a home in the 1600 block of 42 Street SW at 11 p.m. Tuesday, after a group of people returned home and found the victim.
“We don’t know if it happened inside the house, we don’t know if it happened outside the house, or when it happened, so, we’re basically interviewing witnesses at this point trying to figure out the particulars and trying to figure out where our initial scene is,” he said.
Cross says they don’t know if a weapon was used.
Early indications are that the man was alone in the home but investigators aren’t even sure if the residents of the home who found him know who he is.
