The United Way kicked off their annual campaign on Thursday, with a parade down Stephen Avenue in the core.
President and CEO of the United Way Calgary Lucy Miller tells City TV that despite the downturn in the economy, Calgarians are still helping.
“Our experience has been that Calgarians do step up. Our shirts this year say ‘We are Calgary’, ‘I am Calgary’, because something special about Calgarians is we take care of our own. We don’t expect other people to look after us, I love that about our city,” Miller said.
The goal of the United Way is to drive social change in the areas of poverty, kids, and communities.
