Screamfest promises to terrify or delight the Halloween fan of all ages

Bring along an extra pair of underwear if you’re planning to take in Screamfest this weekend, it’s promising to delight the Halloween fan of all ages.

It’s back for another terrifying year at Stampede Park after working on their 5 haunted houses all year round.

“We always try to up our game every year and it turned out pretty good this year,” said owner Mike Sheppard. “It’s a learning process and it’s very hard because people are scared by different things, so some houses people find very scary and some find it not very scary at all, depends on if you’re afraid of the dark, or aliens, or zombies or whatever.”

Sheppard describes it as more of a Halloween carnival that delivers not only haunted houses but escape rooms, coffin rides and trips in a monster truck.

The goal he says is to scare people but the bigger goal is for everyone to have a good time.

“We go out of our way to get people where they can,” he said. “We plan for this all year, we have some staff that work on contract for us all year long, if we’re not building a house, we’re repairing one.”

He added by the end, they’re expecting roughly 27,000 people by the time their stint is done.

Information has been posted along with their schedule on their website.

This weekend, which is a five day stretch, is their last weekend before they close for the year.

His advice to people?

“They can handle it, there are so many things to do, there are some who don’t even go into the haunted houses but they come and do other stuff and it works.”
